Semi-detached home extension
Cambridge
The configuration of the first floor had been altered over the years and while it had four bedrooms two of them were quite small. We looked at improving this and providing a new master suite which freed up space and improved the size of the existing rear bedrooms.
The rear extension captures framed views of the south facing garden. By building at first floor level we created some much needed shading to the new kitchen diner. It has provided the family with a house that makes sensible use of the whole footprint with open adult and family spaces as well as more separate private spaces for children and adults.
We had extensive deliberations with the clients as to the material choices the final decision for charred vertical cladding works well against the Cambridge buff brick of the existing building and has breathed new life into this family home.
